SHURE movemic, no voice left behind

When Shure microphones asked us to demonstrate the extraordinary capacity of their new lavalier microphones, we decided to put it to the ultimate product test. To save a language. In collaboration with The Living Tongues institute of language preservation we set about the difficult challenge of choosing a fundamentally important language to help nudge away from the brink of extinction. After carefully considering factors like social significance, cultural preservation, history and regional economic impact, we engaged with a small representative community in the Assam region of North West India. Here they speak Santhali, an endangered but also influential language among the collective Munda languages. Not only would our efforts help to preserve Santhali specifically but also a host of related linguistic offshoots that host the incredible diversity and nuance of the Munda language family.  Our project was designed to showcase the technical superiority of the Shure Movemic, raise awareness of the existing threat to the Santhali language both internationally and domestically, and of course to bring financial and technical support and attention to the wonderful but underfunded work that Living tongues performs.
